We’re going to blow your mind—the old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” does not apply to your website. Judge away. Yes, seriously.

According to a study by Stanford University, 74% of users make judgements about a company’s credibility based on their website design. As a matter of fact, people make subconscious positive or negative judgment within 50 milliseconds—that’s 0.05 seconds! The study known as “Web Credibility Research” also uncovered interesting insights about how to boost a website’s credibility.

Undoubtedly a website is necessary for your business to grow, and it’s one of your most expensive marketing investments and the “face” of your business. Your website reflects your products and services, and it gives visitors a first impression about your brand and what potential customers can expect from you.

Good design takes a combination of user-experience (UX) and user-interface (UI) to win credibility points. Your website design needs to be both easy to use and useful to the customer. When designing your site, there are a lot of parts and pieces to arrange such as layout, typography, images, color and more. For example, let’s look at typography (the art and technique of arranging type) and color. Good typography adds readability—meaning it positively impacts perceptions of credibility. Color controls attention, sparks emotion, and helps differentiate your brand. Typography and color research ultimately show us that readability is a priority, but it also leads us to understand your audience and your brand positioning.

“Words have meaning. Type has spirit. The combination is spectacular.” – Paula Scher

A successful website and its design will also be judged on how well a site meets the needs of the user. A website that features simple navigation has an aesthetically pleasing design and engaging content will surely draw more traffic to your business.

In a 2018 survey by Econsultancy and Adobe, 85% of respondents consider that design-driven businesses are outclassing their competitors. When we design websites for our clients, we're laser-focused on the customer journey. In effect, you will have a better conversion rate which leads to better business and revenue. All while outperforming your peers.
